Sponsored
by Pizza Hut®, Inc., the Book It! Reading Incentive Program
runs from October 1, 2001 through March 29, 2002.
Children in kindergarten (five years old by September of current
school year) through the 6th grade are eligible.
Lighthouse
Home Educating Families is a participating group. Sign up
your students with the Book It! Coordinator, Mrs. J'Aimée
Rogers. E-mail: lhef@juno.com
Step
1
At the outset of the program, set monthly reading goals for each
student. Goals can be number of books read, number of pages read,
number of minutes read, etc. The goal can vary from month to month.
For students not yet reading or having difficulty reading, you can
set goals where parents or others read to them.
Step
2
Use the progress chart to track reading progress.
Step
3
As soon as the student meets his or her monthly goal, you should
give him or her a pizza award certificate. Certificates should be
filled out completely prior to visiting Pizza Hut®. Each student
can earn only one certificate per month. The student must be present
when the certificate is redeemed. Certificates expire 30 days from
date of issue and all certificates are void after May 1, 2002. The
certificates can be redeemed during normal business hours, seven
days a week.
Step
4
The student brings the certificate to a participating Pizza Hut
restaurant for a free, one-topping Personal Pan Pizza®. The
restaurant manager congratulates the student and on first visit,
presents them with a colorful button to recognize reading achievements.
Each subsequent visit earns another sticker.
The pizza award certificates should be redeemed with the child's
individual family.
All
Star Readers
