1. To train men and women to serve productively—and to train others to serve—the Lord Jesus Christ.
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
— II Timothy 2:2
Many Institute graduates are pastors or missionaries, while others serve within ministries of their local churches.
2. To train men and women to base their lives totally on the Word of God.
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
— I Thessalonians 2:13
By the Word of God, we mean the fully preserved Word of God, the Authorized Version of 1611, commonly called the King James Bible. No references will be made to the “originals” to correct the Word of God, which is the only rule of faith and practice.
3. To train men and women through practical ministry experience.
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
— Philippians 4:9
Every semester each student is required to participate in an outreach ministry of Lighthouse Baptist Church, or of their own church if they are a bona fide member elsewhere, in order to apply the lessons learned in the classroom.
